General RequirementsCoaches participating in EXTRA are some of our most talented and experienced coaches. At a minimum, Region 9 EXTRA coaches (head and assistant) must: - Have a current Volunteer Application on file at the National Support & Training Center
- Be an AYSO trained coach as specified in these guidelines
- Be Safe Haven certified and CDC Concussion Awareness trained
- Complete a COACH APPLICATION and be interviewed by the coach selection committee
- Be an active participant in the Region 9 standard primary program as an instructor, coach or Referee mentor, or other volunteer service the Region determines adequate to fulfill this requirement
- Be willing to attend ongoing coach training and assessment and attend monthly coach meetings
- Be in good standing with the Region, Area, Section and AYSO National and represent Region 9 well in all aspects of coaching
- Be approved by the Region 9 Board of Directors
- Be evaluated and renewed each membership year

- 10U: U-12 Coach required
- 11U: U-12 Coach required; Intermediate Coach strongly recommended
- 12U:U-12 Coach required; Intermediate Coach strongly recommended
- 13U/14U: Intermediate Coach required; Advanced Coach strongly recommended
All coaches are expected to participate in ongoing coach training, including monthly coach education programs hosted by Region 9 EXTRA Program and other coach training organizations. |

The Region 9 Extra Program has an impressive group of coaches for the 2019 season. _ coaches have “Advanced” AYSO certifications, _ have “Intermediate” certifications, and _ have various USSF licenses.
