I want to be a Volunteer AYSO Referee

Hello, and thank you for considering Volunteering to become an AYSO Referee for Region 9!
How to Volunteer as a Referee: First, register as a Volunteer Referee:
https://www.ayso9.org/Default.aspx?tabid=866537
Special Notes:
Choose "Referee" whether you are an adult or youth. The System will know if you are under 18. Simple subtraction.
If you are the Lead SportsConnect account for your family -- i.e., your name is the one we see that registers the children and pays the registration fee -- you can use that account to volunteer as a Referee. If you are NOT the lead account, you must create your own SportsConnect account with its own separate e-mail address in order to volunteer.
If you are volunteering as a Team Referee for a Core Team so that your child's Team will have a Team Referee, choose the Division of your Child's team.
If you are volunteering as a Team Referee for a United Team so that your United Team can earn Team Referee Points, choose a 6U, 16U or 19U Division, so you are not accidentally placed as a Team Referee during team formation. Those Divisions do not have or do not use our Group of Referees.
If you are volunteering just to Referee because it is a great way to help your community's kids, choose a 6U, 16U or 19U Division, so you are not accidentally placed as a Team Referee during team formation. YES, THIS HAPPENS, EVERY YEAR!
Included in your first-time Volunteering will be a request for a background check. You must submit a background check in order to be a Volunteer Referee. "Sterling" will send your e-mail a notification asking you to click the link. Check your junk e-mail for this if necessary. Click the link and complete the background check info. NOTE: Youths do not have to do this.
After that, there is more. Since you will be working closely with children, State Law and USSF and AYSO want you to learn about Safety.
So, here is everything you need to do and how, AFTER you register as a Volunteer:
For Winter League Referee Courses at Region 9:
Note that to become certified as an AYSO Referee, you must take BOTH the Regional Online Portion AND the Companion Portion of the Regional Referee Online + Companion Course. No, the Annual Region 9 Meeting is NOT either of these.
1. Log on to the AYSO9 website
2. Click "Account" in the upperright hand corner where the silhouette is.
3. Click "Volunteer" on the left menu.
4. Your list of completions should pop up on the screen (use a PC for this, not your phone, if possible, as everythingI'm typing assumes a PC).
5. Click the AYSOU button.
6. Wait patiently for AYSOU to automatically log you in.
7. Click "Training Event" on the left menu. A calendar will pop up.
8. In the "Courses" box, type or paste, "Regional Referee Online + In-Person Companion Course" (there are three similarly named course, but only this one works).
9. Only Region 9 Courses will show on the Calendar, and they are usually held in January.
10. Click the one that you want to attend.
11. Click "Enroll" in the lower right corner.
12. Click "Enroll" in the pop-up box.
13. Click "My Training" on the left menu.
14. The "Regional Referee Online + In-Person Companion Course" box should show up.
15. Click "View" in that box.
16. Click the "Start" button in the "Regional Referee" box.
17. Take the course, and take the exam at the end.
18. Save the Certificate as a pdf, just in case of data issues.
19. Show up on the date and time (check the location) that you registered for the Comapnion (Field) Course.
