*** Important COVID-19 Update *** (added 4/7/2020)

Dear Region 9 Families,

Just like you, we’re concerned about the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact it has on our community and we hope that you and your families are healthy and safe during this unprecedented time.

Normally at this time of the year we would be having our walk-in registrations, player evaluations, and Extra Tryouts. At this time, please review the following in regards to our 2020 Season:

2020 Fall Registration

  •  Registration is open; see details and instructions below
  •  Anyone who registers will be placed onto the waitlist. This is to defer your payment until we are 100% certain we will have a season.
  • Once we have confirmed the Fall Season, you will than be notified about when to pay and to complete your registration.

Extra Program

Please register for the 2020 Fall Core Season. This will get your player(s) into the system. As soon as we know we can safely hold tryouts, families will be notified.

Our hope and goal is to have a full fall season. With that, all of this is subject to change and we will provide updates as we get them and answer as many questions as we can.

Thanks for your support and patience.

How to Register for the Fall 2020 Core season:

Go to the Region 9 website at:

If you are new to AYSO Region 9, click on the Register Now button in the upper right corner of the Region 9 home page for both Player Registration and Volunteer Registration.
If you previously created a User account in Sports Connect, (formerly Blue Sombrero) for a Player and/or Volunteer, click on Login with the same username and password as last year.
Do not create a new SportsConnect account if you already have a Blue Sombrero/SportsConnect account!  If you do create a new account, you will not be able to access Participant/Player or Volunteer information from prior year(s).

Click here for detailed instructions on how to complete online player registration.
Note:  only youth players are "Participants" in Sports Connect.  Adult Volunteers are not Participants; they are "Volunteers".

  • Online Registration for the Fall 2020 season will open beginning March 19th.
  • Player registration MUST be done online, with an internet-connected computer or with a smartphone or tablet.
  • There will be no walk-in registration; everything must be done:
    online; or
    via email ([email protected]); or
via snail mail (AYSO Region 9, PO Box 4914, attn:  Registrar, Thousand Oaks, California 91359)
  • If your child did not play in AYSO Region 9 last year, you must send a COPY of the child's birth certificate via email or to our PO Box.
  • Date(s) and location(s) for player evaluations (not tryouts; Everyone Plays!  Balanced Teams!) will be announced.
Parents of players with completed online applications will be notified via email.  Information will also be posted to the Region 9 website.
  • Walk in registrations are being held 9am to 1pm on Saturday April 4th (at the Conejo Creek South Community Meeting Room) and on Saturday May 2nd (again at the Conejo Creek South Community Meeting Room)

  •  After completing the online registration of your child(ren), print the Player Registration Form(s) and bring to one of the two events.  If your child did not play for Region 9 last year, be sure to also bring a copy of the birth certificate.

    Our registration fee is $147.75.

Please also note:  AYSO Region 9 is able to function only because of volunteers.  We will only be able to form as many teams as we have parents who step up to volunteer to be a Head Coach, so while you are registering your child, take the opportunity to register as a Volunteer (we also need Referees, and Assistant Coaches).  Please take a couple of minutes to read (or re-read!) the Volunteer Registration Instructions The steps to follow may not be readily obvious.
Note:  only youth players are "Participants" in Sports Connect.  Adult Volunteers are not Participants; they are "Volunteers".

It is very, very important that you remember to print the Player Registration Form(s) and bring to one of the two Walk-In registration events in-order for your child to be considered for placement on a team.

A player evaluation (not a tryout) is required for all players who were not registered in Region 9 last season and who were born between December 31st. 2002 and January 1st. 2012.  The evaluation must be completed before a player will be placed on a team.  Evaluations will be held at the Conejo Creek South soccer fields during both walk-in Registration events.  Bring the child equipped with shin guards and a soccer ball (size 4 for children born in the years 2009 through 2012 or size 5 for children born in the year 2008 or earlier).

Should you have questions, contact:

Michael J. Wilson
Registrar, AYSO Region 9
[email protected]

Please make sure that your Participant/Player's first and last name, gender, and date of birth are correct on the Add New Participant web page before you click the Continue button.  Once you click that button, you cannot make any correction; you should contact the Registrar if a mistake was made.

If a player has tried out for or will be trying out for an Extra team, do not select a "Core" Program Division unless you have been notified that your child was not selected for the Extra Program.  Extra players will be receiving instructions for registering in that program.

Registration is open to everyone.

Region 9 is a 100% VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION. Your participation is needed to make the season successful!

Click on the appropriate link if you have a player who is trying out for the EXTRA Program.
