How to Register for the Fall 2022 Core and VIP season:

Go to the Region 9 website at:  www.ayso9.org

If you are new to AYSO Region 9, click on the Register Now button in the upper right corner of the Region 9 home page for both Player Registration and Volunteer Registration.

If you previously created a User account in Sports Connect or Blue Sombrero, for a Player and/or Volunteer, click on Login.  Rather than a Username, Sports Connect will ask for your email address.  If you have not logged in since last year (or earlier), and if you are using the same email address as you used to create an Account in a prior year, Sports Connect will ask you to create a new Password and then confirm that new Password (ignore the message about Create a New Account; you are actually just updating a Password for an existing account).  They will then send you an email with a link which you use to login to your existing account with your email address and new Password.  You should see all Participant(s) from prior year(s) so that you can register your child(ren) to play this Fall, and yourself to Volunteer.

Do not create a new Sports Connect account if you already have a Blue Sombrero/Sports Connect account!
If you do create a new account, you will not be able to access Participant/Player or Volunteer information from prior year(s).

Click here for detailed instructions on how to complete online player registration.

Note:  only youth players are "Participants" in Sports Connect.  Adult Volunteers are not Participants; they are "Volunteers".

  • Online Registration for the Fall 2022 season will open beginning April 1st.
  • Player registration MUST be done online, with an internet-connected computer or with a smartphone or tablet.
  • There will be no walk-in registration; everything must be done online; or
    via email ([email protected]); or
via snail mail (AYSO Region 9, PO Box 4914, attn:  Registrar, Thousand Oaks, California 91359)
  • If your child did not play in AYSO Region 9 in 2021, you can upload a copy of the birth certificate into Sports Connect;
or you must send a COPY of the child's birth certificate via email or to our PO Box.
  • Date(s) and location(s) for player evaluations (not tryouts; Everyone Plays!  Balanced Teams!) will be announced.  Parents of players with completed online applications will be notified via email.  Information will also be posted to the Region 9 website.
  • Our Region 9 registration fee for the Core program is $150.
The registration fee for the VIP Program is $85.
There is an additional charge of $20 per player (the AYSO National Annual Membership Fee); and an additional  $2.75 (credit card) processing fee is charged per transaction.

Please also note:  AYSO Region 9 is able to function only because of volunteers.  We will only be able to form as many teams as we have parents who step up to volunteer to be a Head Coach, so while you are registering your child, take the opportunity to register as a Volunteer (we also need Referees, and Assistant Coaches).  Please take a couple of minutes to read (or re-read!) the Volunteer Registration Instructions The steps to follow may not be readily obvious.

Note:  only youth players are "Participants" in Sports Connect.  Adult Volunteers are not Participants; they are "Volunteers".

A player evaluation (not a tryout) is required for all players who were not registered in Region 9 in 2021 and who were born between December 31, 2004 and January 1, 2014 (10U-19U age groups).  The evaluation must be completed before a player will be placed on a team.  Bring the child equipped with shin guards and a soccer ball (size 4 for children born in the years 2011 through 2014 or size 5 for children born in the year 2010 or earlier).

Should you have questions, contact:

Michael J. Wilson
Registrar, AYSO Region 9
[email protected]

Please make sure that your Participant/Player's first and last name, gender, and date of birth are correct on the Add New Participant web page before you click the Continue button.  Once you click that button, you cannot make any correction; you should contact the Registrar if a mistake was made.

If a player has tried out for or will be trying out for an Extra team, do not select a "Core" Program Division unless you have been notified that your child was not selected for the Extra Program.  Extra players will be receiving instructions for registering in that program.

Registration is open to everyone.

Region 9 is a 100% VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION. Your participation is needed to make the season successful!

Click on the appropriate link if you have a player who is trying out for the EXTRA Program.
