What is the Winter League?
Winter League stresses skills and fun for players in the 6U through 19U age groups. This program is run by Region 9 and has no advancements to other levels. The number and size of teams we field will depend on the amount of adult support we receive.

This is a fun league for all skill levels.

Who plays?
We expect that players who are selected for Tournament or Extra teams, or play for Club teams, will not play in this Winter League so they can devote their time and talent to one team. However, submitting a Winter League Application does not exclude your child from consideration for Tournament Teams.

When is the season?
The first games will be January 12th, 2019; the last games will be March 2nd, 2019. Weather permitting, each team will play approximately 8 games. Game schedules will be posted when they become available.

What is the Registration Fee?
The fee is $80 per player. Players will receive game jersey, shorts, and socks.  There is an additional $17.50 fee for any players who were not in AYSO during the Fall 2018 season.

The first practice will start the week of January 7th and will be scheduled Monday through Friday.  Each team will practice once per week.  7U/8U teams practice for 60 minutes, and 10U-19U teams practice for 90 minutes.

All games and practices will be held at the Conejo Creek South soccer fields in Thousand Oaks on the southeast corner of the 23 freeway and Janss Road.

Children that played during the regular Fall 2018 Season will be placed in the same age grouping.  Players joining for the first time will be placed based on their calendar year age.  There will be no “playing up” or “playing down” into different divisions, so PLEASE do not ask for special requests as they will not be honored.   Depending on number of players signed up, there is a chance that certain divisions could be co-ed, or no specific teams, but rather a Jamboree style program.  Again, we will only build the number of teams for which we have enough volunteer coaches.

Coaches are selected based upon prior experience, interest, ability, and prior completion of AYSO training and/or certification and support of the AYSO philosophy.  Every effort will be made to have a variety of coaches from Region 9 and from other Regions.
If you would like to be considered as a Coach for the 2018 Winter League, send the following information to Steve Ferry at [email protected].

  1. your full name
  2. your contact information (e-mail address, preferred phone number, address)
  3. your AYSO coach training and experience
  4. the Division you wish to coach in the Winter League (6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U/19U)
  5. the AYSO Region in which you coached Fall 2018

Winter League 2018 Teams

Teams will be formed in late December 2018 or early January 2019.  The list of Team Coaches will be posted at that time.  Players should be hearing from their coach shortly after teams are formed.
***Note*** Team numbers start with the letter “W” (e.g. W06C1, W10G5, W19C2).  When you search for your Team in the Game or Referee schedules, please keep this in mind.  Do not search for or select Team numbers starting with the letter “U”; these were Fall 2018 teams.

Game and Referee Schedules
Winter League 2018 Game Schedules and Referee Scheduling will be available in early January.  The schedules will be searchable by Team # (remember that Winter League Team numbers start with the letter “W”), by Division, by date. etc.
Field maps for Saturday games and for weekday practices have been added.

Player Uniforms
Winter League player uniforms will be distributed at the Conejo Creek South meeting room on (date, time, location tba)

Are the fields Open or Closed?
The quickest way to determine if fields are open or closed (for games or for practices) is to check the CRPD Field Conditions web page. There is a mobile-friendly version.  And there is also a phone number you can call (805) 381-1236, although you may get a busy signal if everyone is trying to get through at the same time.

Each team will be required to provide one (1) referee.  We will be holding a Referee Clinic in early January (yes or no?) to assist any new referees.
